NIH Manuscript Submission (NIHMS) System

The NIH Manuscript Submission (NIHMS) system supports the deposit of manuscripts into PubMed Central (PMC) as required by the public access policies of NIH and other participating funders.Manuscript deposit via NIHMS is a multi-step process that currently takes approximately 2 to 3 weeks following initial approval of a complete submission. Processing times may vary depending on Reviewer responsiveness and the volume of submissions during a given period.

What is NIHMS?

The NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS) is a tool for authors and publishers to deposit the electronic version of a peer-reviewed final manuscript to prepare the work for posting to PubMed Central (PMC). Papers in NIHMS are assigned an identifier (NIHMSID).
