Library Mission

The mission of the Becker Medical Library is to provide information resources and technology in support of the educational, research and patient care objectives of the School of Medicine.

Who We Serve

The Bernard Becker Medical Library serves the Washington University School of Medicine, the Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and the St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

ILLiad is the electronic system for requesting Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services.

Logon to ILLiad

Use ILLiad to:

  • Request materials not owned by the Library (interlibrary loan)
  • Request photocopies of articles owned by Becker Medical Library (document delivery)
  • Revise or check status of your requests
  • Renew Interlibrary Loan
  • Update your ILLiad account information

Archives & Rare Books

Rare Books Selection - Becker Medical LibraryThe Archives and Rare Books section of the Bernard Becker Medical Library is home to one of the nation's finest collections of historical medical materials. The Archives specializes in materials and institutional records relating to the history of Washington University School of Medicine and its affiliated institutions. The nine distinct Rare Books Collections total approximately 22,000 books and journals and cover major authors and ideas from classical antiquity to the present.

As of 6 p.m on March 17, 2020, the library building is accessible to School of Medicine faculty, students, residents, postdocs and fellows via badge swipe only. Notice of the university’s current visitor policy is posted at the entrance.

The information services desk will not be physically staffed. Until the university returns to normal operations, we will operate a virtual information services desk via askbecker@wustl.edu and 314-362-7080.

Virtual Information Services Desk Hours

Monday-Thursday: 7:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m.
Friday: 7:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday: 1 p.m.-9 p.m.
