Using Publication Data to Demonstrate Productivity and Impact

Do you need to provide a report on your publications or include an impact statement in a grant renewal? This presentation will review how to use  library databases to create reports and images to demonstrate productivity and impact for tenure, grant renewals or applications, among others. Presentations can be customized for a specific group and investigators.

Performance and Impact Assessment

  • Provide “Publication Analysis Packet” reports for individuals or groups
  • Provide h index reports for individuals or groups
  • Create graphs or charts to illustrate performance and impact
  • Track individuals such as trainees over an extended time period


  • Demonstrate a gap in the knowledge of a specific area of research for an application
  • Provide justification that an investigator is the best qualified person to undertake research in a specific area of research
  • Review sections of an application, progress report or renewal to supplement a narrative
  • Create graphs or charts to illustrate performance and impact

Recruitment & Tenure

  • Identify potential candidates in a specific area of research
  • Generate publication reports for potential candidates
  • Provide publication and h index reports for individuals or groups

Enhancing the Visibility and Impact of Your Research

This presentation covers various strategies for participants to consider as they undertake research activities.

Participants will be able to better understand tools and approaches that can be used to enhance author profiles, promote discoverability and access of research findings, and document evidence of research impact.
