What is GIS?
A GIS is a computer system capable of capturing, storing, analyzing, and displaying geographically referenced information; that is, data identified according to location. Practitioners also define a GIS as including the procedures, operating personnel, and spatial data that go into the system. (From http://edc2.usgs.gov/pubslists/gis_poster).
2009 GIS Symposium
Join fellow faculty, students and staff for the 6th GIS Symposium to be held Thursday November 19th. The event will be held in the Whitaker Hall Auditorium from 9:00am - noon. Poster session and technical workshops will follow beginning at 1:00pm on the 3rd floor of Earth & Planetary Sciences.
